KCBA provided architectural services to renovate this 18-story building to enhance the interior environment and provide new common areas. This continuing care retirement community, which had not been renovated since its construction in the 1990s, has 224 beds and three levels of senior care. Notable aspects of the renovation include new finishes and lighting throughout the facility; expanded assisted living dining room, lounge, kitchens, and activity space; conversion of nurse stations to care stations and updated medical rooms; a new entry to the memory support unit; expanded memory support dining room, sitting area, and garden room; new private dining room and server/staging area; expanded and renovated café; and a renovated lobby, library, sunroom, and living room. The building was fully occupied throughout the project so great care was taken to ensure the safety of residents and minimize disturbances from construction activities.
