LEED Gold Certified Renovation/Expansion
A major renovation/expansion initiative at this high school was undertaken to enhance security, increase operating efficiency and building performance, simplify interior circulation, add student capacity, and modernize spaces to better support the school district’s evolving educational program. The project included four new additions – an athletics/performance entrance and gymnasium, cafeteria, science lab, and guidance offices. Renovations entailed upgrades to educational, support, and administrative spaces as well as replacement of building systems and interior finishes. A special focus was enhancing STEM spaces; this was accomplished in part through the conversion of a portion of the existing auxiliary gym into a state-of-the-art engineering suite. Construction phasing was carefully planned as all work was completed while the building remained open and occupied. LEED Gold certified, a number of sustainable building strategies were implemented including a rooftop solar array. The scope of work also included a new artificial turf multi-purpose field with lights and bleachers.
