New Construction
KCBA was commissioned by Methacton School District to study a range of renovation and new construction concepts to modernize Arrowhead Elementary School which was originally built in 1974 and featured an open concept plan layout. After a thorough vetting process, the district elected to construct a new school capable of fully supporting their evolving educational program. It was built on the constricted site of the original school and the need to maintain safe ongoing operations during construction greatly contributed to the makeup of the design. The new 86,000 SF school houses a range of innovative spaces such as a bi-level shared student commons and breakout center, flexible STEM lab, multipurpose combined gym and auditorium, dedicated art and music suites, a library/media center with areas to support independent study and group activities, and a secure outdoor classroom with a permanent canopy.
