New Construction; Part of Initiative to Consolidate District Elementary Schools

This new 203,000 sq. ft. school for grades 3-6 was part of a consolidation of Avon Grove School District’s elementary facilities onto one central campus. The large-scale facility for 1,700 students features an innovative layout that is sensitive to the developmental needs of young learners. Instead of a series of traditional classroom blocks, the building is organized around four distinct two-story “school houses”, one for each grade. Each of these features their own classrooms, a large group room, and support spaces while a common core provides shared community and administration spaces. This approach allows the building to retain the intimate, small-scale character of four neighborhood schools yet provides the operational and staffing efficiencies of a single large building.
