Lower Providence Community Library

Eagleville, PA

New Construction

KCBA planned and designed this new 12,500 sq. ft. community library on the site of an existing municipal campus and park. The library was designed with shed roofs, traditional barn siding, and post and beam construction to meld with the existing campus character which was shaped by an adjacent 19th century farmhouse and barn. The library is organized with interior spaces radiating from a central circulation desk to minimize staffing required for supervision. Seating areas are arranged around the building perimeter which features floor-to-ceiling windows and a strong connection to the exterior park and wooded areas. The building configuration and exterior circulation were carefully planned to complement the existing park and provide special opportunities for outdoor reading and gathering.
