Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Community Learning Center
Lancaster, PA
New Construction
This new community outreach center is being developed to promote education and spark an interest in the technology fields among pre-school and K-12 students in an underserved area of the City of Lancaster.
Located adjacent to the college’s Greiner Campus for Advanced Manufacturing, the new bi-level facility will offer varied community support and educational programming with a focus on advancing skills of potential future college students. Spaces include classrooms and a makerspace laboratory to host hands-on educational activities, a large community room for public events and meetings, an infant and pre-school early learning center, and administrative offices.
The project site originally housed a city maintenance garage which will be demolished and the site reconfigured to better engage visitors, accommodate additional parking and a playground, and establish a direct pedestrian connection on the upper level to the adjacent campus building. The aesthetic of the new building incorporates a mix of glass, brick, and metal panel materials to provide a welcoming presence and complement the character of the Greiner Campus.
