The KCBA team is honored to receive an Outstanding Project Award in Learning By Design Magazine’s fall 2021 Architectural and Interior Design Awards of Excellence. Parkland School District’s new Veterans Memorial Elementary School in Breinigsville, PA has been recognized as a benchmark facility for its incorporation of next generation learning space design and planning.
The 90,000 SF school serving grades K-5 opened for the 2020-2021 school year. Built on a previously vacant property, the new school was carefully developed to support the school district’s evolving program and emphasis on early childhood literacy and STEAM education.
The project was reviewed by a jury of six education architectural design experts evaluating six criteria: innovation, community needs, interior design, sustainability, functional design, and next generation learning. The jury applauded the new Veterans Memorial Elementary School and shared some comments: “Rational planning that creates a nice protected exterior zone. Daylight and views of nature are prioritized throughout with two wings sheltering a secure courtyard for learning. Early planning addressed current needs and evaluated how the design will accommodate future expansion.”
