Lynnewood Elementary School
School District of Haverford Township
This project entailed the design of a new Lynnewood Elementary School to replace the original building on the same campus. Located in a dense residential neighborhood, the configuration of the revamped campus was in part shaped by relationships to neighboring houses and heavy community use of the fields and site amenities. The site is also heavily sloped which resulted in a building organization that features on-grade access at the first and second floors.
The new 700-student school serves K-5 students and provides a full gamut of educational and community spaces including a central learning circle to support break-out activities, dedicated life skills suite, a flexible stage arranged to serve both the gym and cafeteria, and an enclosed outdoor learning and play area with direct access to the classroom wing, library, and cafeteria.
